Sue George

NTEX Swimmer of the Month for November 2009

Our own Sue George recently earned the number six spot in the 2008 TOP TEN RANKINGS in the United States for the 1500 meter for age group 75-79. The North Texas Masters Swim Team is proud of our Sue and extends the biggest congratulations for her accomplishment.

Seven decades of swimming has not diminished Sue George’s feisty and enthusiastic attitude about life and all its varied aspects. While Sue’s answers to a variety of questions provides some glimpses and insights to her personality, everyone on the team is encouraged and challenged to get to know her a little better. Stop by her lane on the way out of the pool and say hello and ask her why she picked skim milk over chocolate. What was she thinking anyway?

NTEX: When did you start swimming?
Sue: I learned to swim when I was about 5 or 6.

NTEX: When were you born and where?
Sue: Cleveland, Ohio in 1933

NTEX: How many siblings/children?
Sue: I have one sister deceased and a brother who is 84. My two children are a 50 year old daughter and a 47 year old son.

NTEX: At one age did you have your first date?
Sue: I was in the 7th grade (13) when I went to a party with a group of friends.

NTEX: When were you most proud?
Sue: When I received my Masters in Counseling from Central Michigan University at the young age of 55.

NTEX: If you had to swim in a liquid other than water, what would you want it to be?
Sue: Skim Milk. (Editor’s Note: Is this the former dietician talking or the inner Sue?)

NTEX: Where is the most beautiful place in the world?
Sue: Edinburgh, Scotland

NTEX: What is the most romantic present anyone has ever given you?
Sue: An engagement ring.

NTEX: Goals for 2009 for swimming.

Sue: I spent 6 months in Germany and loved it.

NTEX: Favorite quotation?
Sue: My Dad gave me this one: “If you don’t get a day older, consider the alternative.”

NTEX: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Sue: Smarter!
