Melissa Horner Competes in International Triathlon Union (ITU) Long Course World Championship NTEX swimmer Melissa Horner recently traveled to Australia to compete in the ITU Long Course World Championships. While she is very humble and quiet regarding her acheivements, she is an amazing athlete and a great addition to the NTEX Masters team. I recently spoke with her about the race and her travels to Perth. 'As far as Perth goes, it was a great experience. The race itself was a lot of fun. There were a couple dozen countries participating, and half the field were Australians. It was a beautiful day, although a little on the warm side. The swim was very choppy, we had gusty winds on the bike, and the run was flat and hot. I've never been to a world event before, so it was neat. We had a nice opening ceremony dinner and some team USA events around the race. I was thrilled to finish in the middle of my age group (23 out of 48) with such a competitive field. There were 107 US competitors and 140 from New Zealand, as well as many other countries.' Take a moment to congratulate her and hear about the kangaroos!
