Welcome to North Texas Masters Swimming
North Texas Masters Swim Team (NTEX) is a year round adult swimming program offering anyone 18 years of age or older a fun, safe way to improve physical and mental well-being through swimming. Coached practices are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning and also Monday, Wednesday evening, expanding to other training opportunites as the team grows. NETX is for a wide range of swimming ability, from those just starting a swimming for fitness activity, those improving the swim portion of their triathlon, to those competing at the highest levels.

Required USMS Registration
In order for the North Texas Masters to use the Lewisville ISD Aquatic Center the coach and all of the participating members must be covered by INSURANCE.  In order to obtain that insurance coverage each of US has to be a registered member of United States Masters Swimming (USMS).  Please get your registration accomplished by completing the attached Registration FORM or by registering on line by going to and click on the link in the upper right corner of the HOME page.  It takes just a FEW minutes to do it online. In addition to insurance your membership permits you to participate in all USMS Sactioned events and also includes the bimonthly USMS SWIMMER magzine that delves into training and technique for swimmers and provides leading-edge information that supports a healthy lifestyle, including tips on food and nutrition, cross-training and general fitness and health.

Once you have your USMS number you can go on the US Masters web site and set up your MY USMS account.  Within your account you can print a new registration card (if needed) and view all of your times from swim meets.  You can also utilize the Fitness Log which provides a simple to use method of tracking all of your workouts (weights, running, walking, cycling, swimming, spinning, yoga, etc) as well as fitness measurements like weight and resting HR.

GO THE DISTANCE 2016 (5290 miles to the Barra de Tajuca Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro - site of the Olympics Aquatics Stadium)
NTEX is reactivating the GTD program for 2016 with a team goal of swimming to the Olympics Aquatics Stadium in Rio de Janeiro in celebration of this Olympic year.  In 2012 we swam the total distance to the London Olympics. The annual GTD program has become one of the most popular events offered by USMS. More than 3,300 members participated in this fitness event in 2015, logging more than 1.25 billion yards for the year (more than 700,000 miles). GTD is a self-directed program intended to encourage Masters swimmers to regularly exercise and track their progress. There is no time limit for the distance milestones, except that they must be achieved in the calendar year 2016. Speed does not count - just the effort to attain whatever goal you set for yourself.

GTD is on the honor system - you track the distance you swim. You enter that information into your online Fitness Log (FLOG) - see previous paragraph. When you achieve certain milestones, ranging from 50 miles through 1500 miles, you will be recognized on the U.S. Masters Swimming website and in the monthly e-newsletter STREAMLINES. Track your weekly, monthly and annual totals online. Once you've entered GTD, your results are automatically included in the daily summary reports, and the link to purchase your milestone awards will appear on your FLOG when you reach the various milestones.

There is no cost to enter GTD. You may register for GTD through your FLOG in the My USMS section of the website. Even if you were entered in 2015 you must enter again in 2016 (after January 1st). Just click on on your FLOG and at the top of the monthly calendar will be a link to register - it literally takes one click to sign up for GTD.

January we will be working on the ONE HOUR POSTAL SWIM - see more info below.  February we will focus on breaking team records - yes, we have NTEX specific records.  For March I will be using the underwater camera during practice as a powerful feedback for what your stroke truly looks like.  It is amazing to compare what you think you are doing and what is actually going on with your balance, rotation and anchoring of your stroke.  In late February we will set a schedule for a time and day for your analysis.  To take advantage of this team benefit your USMS membership should be current and you are paid up on NTEX monthly dues.  Video analysis will go from 5:30 to 6:30am - case-by-case basis for the evening workout time period. March will also see a couple of TEAM EVENTS.  Stay tuned for what is happening in April through June.

Sometime in the month of January during practice swim one hour to see how far you can swim.  I can time up to three swimmers per workout so PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR day between January 4 - 31.  You have 18 options for getting this done (including the evening workout time slot).  Results will be published in your SWIMMER magazine that is part of your membership in USMS and on the USMS web site. Click on this link (or paste into your web browser) for more information:  There is a $7 fee for entry.  Event t-shirts are available for purchase.  I will have the OFFICIAL SPLIT SHEETS at all practices to document your swim.  I will also make this available to those who do not desire to enter the OFFICIAL event but just want to see how far they can swim in 60 minutes - it all counts for GTD (Rio).

The TAAF Winter Games will be held at the Frisco ISD natatorium on January 17 & 18. There is an adult/Masters session on Sunday morning, January 18. It is open to everyone. The entry fee is $25 for 3 individual events. Relays are $5 extra per relay. There are awards (medals & ribbons) for all events. The meet is a sprint meet: 50 of all strokes, 100 and 200 free and the 100 IM.  Last year the meet was over in less than 2 hours.  This meet qualifies swimmers for the state games.  This is NOT a USMS sanctioned events but times will count towards NTEX TEAM RECORDS. If you are interested go to this link:

Record Breaking Team
We now have current TEAM RECORDS for Short Course Yards (SCY), Short Course Meters (SCM) and Long Course Meters (LCM). You will notice that there are a lot of NO NTEX RECORD entries.  This just means as of this date for the various 5 year age groups we do not have a recorded swim on file. If you know of an existing swim you did as a member of NTEX and we do not have a time listed for you please let me or Elaine Disney, our TEAM RECORD keeper, know the circumstances.
